About Costa Rica we are told thet its modern art scene is "underdeveloped" and "stagnant". The reason: its civilized and gentile colonial life, without the drama and cruelty of the same in other areas of the region. Violence and war seem to be the driving factors for the creation of great art, as that created by Diego Rivera, for example, in Mexico. Could be! Go judge for yourself. We counted 32 art galleries or places where art is offered in San Jose, and it looks like a good level. The new generation of artists is giving life to a new level of Costa Rican art. Long live art!
