When cultural heritage is within reach, it becomes really frustrating once you find out that you are hindered by something petty--like a 500-dollar bill.Bound by the constitution, the local government of Costa Rica could not hire an official translator to handle a Letter Rogatory which will be sent to Germany, where more than 400 pieces of pre-Columbian Costa Rican art are stored. It just so happens that the translators authorized by the German government charge 500 dollars, more than double of what Costa Rican law permits.
